Take Action to Build an Alberta for All Families

Premier Danielle Smith and the Government of Alberta are using fear and stigma  to erode the rights, freedom and healthcare access of transgender youth. Now, parents with trans kids wake up knowing their kids literally have less rights than other kids. Those kids, and their families, deserve better.

That’s why we’re asking fellow Albertans to speak up and take action with us. Below, we’ve highlighted a few actions you can take to help us change hearts and minds and build an Alberta where all families thrive.

Kim and Ashely, two parents of a transgender daughter based in Medicine Hat, are courageously speaking up and sharing their story in a flyer we worked together to develop. They’re asking for your help to reach more parents and families.

You can download the flyer here, print it at home, and add it to your neighbours mailboxes. Or, the next time you take your kid to hockey practice, you can leave some in the bleachers for the next parent. Every flyer is a chance to reach someone new.

Our voices are powerful. Local politicians are always eager to hear from their constituents. They need to listen to you, because they rely on your vote to get re-elected. By sending an email (we made it easy, here) or booking a meeting, you show that people in your community aren’t happy with the government’s decisions.

As more of us send these emails, make these phone calls or book these meetings, more politicians will realize anti-trans policies aren’t popular, will be met with resistance, and make their re-election all the more difficult.

You’re probably in a few community Facebook groups. The kind where people post about their pets, or ask around to find a new hairdresser. We need to reach those people. We’ve created a simple graphic about our campaign, as well as a sample post, to help you spread the word.

We’re shipping flyers out across Alberta, and we’ve got radio ads airing all around the province right now. We’re supporting local activists - trans people, parents and allies - too. Your donation helps us reach more people, change hearts and minds, and build the movement to restore rights to transgender youth in our province.
